Papua New Guinea Mine Watch
12 September 2012
Nautilus Minerals, the Canadian company which is preparing to mine the seafloor off the coast of Papua New Guinea has failed to appear at a public forum at the University of Papua New Guinea to discuss its mining plans. A formal invitation was given to Nautilus some four weeks ago to appear as a panelist at the meeting and present details of its plans and answer questions from the floor. The forum went ahead despite the miner’s failure to show up with a large number of academics, scientists and students attending.
